6.2.2 Adjustingdistillationconditions
Toobtainoptimumdistillationconditions,theenergyabsorbedbythesolventfromthe

settingsarerecommended:

1 Coolanttemperature:20°C
2 Vaportemperature:40°C
3 Heatingbathtemperature:60°C
Thetemperaturedifferencebetweenheatingbathandevaporatingflaskandbetween
evaporatingflaskandcondensershouldbe20°Cineachcase.
Thepressureintheevaporatingflaskshouldbesetsothattheboilingpointofthesol

Theflowrateofthecoolantdependsonthetypeofcoolantusedandthecapacityof
thecoolerbutshouldbeatleast40–50L/h.
Thosesettingsofferthefollowingadvantages:
Theevaporatingflaskcanbereplacedwithouttheriskofskinburns.
Theevaporationrateofthewaterintheheatingbathislow.
Theenergyoftheheatingbathisefficientlyutilized.
Toachieveoptimumdistillation,alldevicesinthesystemshouldbematchedtoone
